At Southern Village Pharmacy, our goal is to completely exceed your expectations around both customer service and pharmacy care. We provide old fashioned customer service, while also using technology and innovation to provide outstanding education and counseling on medication use.
The pharmacy staff are committed to making your pharmacy experience a positive one. The pharmacy is designed to be inviting with a family friendly waiting area (although we promise to do everything possible to minimize wait times!). We have a state of the art counseling room, utilizing technology to help provide you and your family with information and education on your medications (and you can talk to us).

Southern Village Pharmacy is located on Market Street in the heart of Southern Village (next door to Village Pediatrics). We accept virtually all insurance cards which means you pay your usual copay at Southern Village Pharmacy. We carry prescription medications, over the counter medications, and other products based on feedback from the community.
LOCAL
Edward “Ed” Leake is a seasoned pharmacist with over 25 years of experience in the field, and the proud owner of Southern Village Pharmacy. Recently taking the reins, Ed has seamlessly transitioned into his new role by working closely alongside longtime mentor David "Dave" Smithwick for the past eleven months. During this time, he has gained an in-depth understanding of the pharmacy’s operations and formed strong connections with the Chapel Hill community.
Deeply committed to maintaining the pharmacy’s legacy as a cornerstone of the Southern Village Merchants and a trusted health resource for local residents, Ed is passionate about supporting and enriching the community he serves. His extensive background and dedication ensure that Southern Village Pharmacy continues to thrive as a welcoming, community-focused hub for health and well-being.
